The Healthcare Coalition for the North Country is a nonpolitical, volunteer coalition of active and retired healthcare professionals, caregivers, business and community leaders, Medicaid recipients, and other concerned citizens.

Our mission is to preserve access to Medicaid for all deserving recipients.  While there is always a need to identify and eliminate fraud and abuse, we also need to preserve healthcare through Medicaid for people in need who qualify by current standards.

 Our Coalition formed because we believe it is essential to preserve vital healthcare resources in our region as Medicaid funding reductions are being considered. We are a non-partisan group. Our objective is educational. Together, we are preparing and will be making presentations for public officials, the news media, and other interested parties.  We are also collecting patient stories to help show the need for Medicaid not only with data but also through human experience.

We stand for the implementation of sensible and carefully considered public policy. So much is at stake for local hospitals, nursing homes, and medical practices—in fact, the whole healthcare system—if there are quick, careless cuts to Medicaid. A good healthcare system is essential to having a strong community.
